My Values

Finding out your personal values can be truly invigorating in your life. Often we have a vague idea or we can see patterns in our behavior that show them, but not always can we point them out in one word or expression. I was lucky to meet people who helped me pinpointing mine and ever since that happened, I can shape my behavior to support them even more. They helped me realize, how I am really driven by the following, my personal values:

  • Fairness – my strongest, truly inner drive.
    • I don’t really know how this came to be so deeply rooted in me, it might be my upbringing or early childhood education, who knows. Whatever it is, I have a strong sense of fairness and I believe it is my primary personal value. I always seek fairness in everything I do. Fairness is by definition mutual. That means I constantly look to be treated correctly, but I also look to treat others correctly. Mutual consideration is one outcome from this.
  • Thoroughness & Greatness
    • I live by the line ‘”good enough” ist not good enough’. Although I am not necessarily a perfectionist, I truly believe too many products and services in our world are just mediocre and they satisfy neither the designer nor the customer fully. I am not interested in such solutions. I aspire to creating well considered, thoroughly designed, robust products and provide services powered by this aspiration.
  • Sustainability / Integrity / Responsibility
    • These three related values of mine result in many other sub-values. Aiming to live with a sustainable attitude reflects in behavior in favor of great and true long term results, instead of shallow short term outcomes.
    • In order to have sustainable relationships, trust is required. In order to build trust, naturally loyalty and transparency are needed. I fully intend to build long-lasting relationships and therefore live up these values.
    • To sustain the world we live on requires a constant awareness of our CO2-, water and generally resource-footprints. Please see the measures I take to operate in a sustainable way on my “Working With Me” page.

When you grow an awareness, that you lived up to your values at the end of the day or week, you get ignited to do it again. You start to live up to becoming your best self, permanently. In case you are interested in discovering your own, following exercise does a good job in identifying them: “Imagine all your goals are achieved, now what? What do you stand for?”
